* Warm Up for Winter: 22 Projects to Ignite Your Needles
* Innovation in the Andes: Making Bobble Yarn
This issue of Interweave Knits includes over a dozen women’s tops, including some wonderful cabled and Fair Isle sweaters, vests, a pullover that is completely reversible (two sweaters in one!), a Lord of the Rings-inspired hoodie, and a Bohus-inspired cardigan. The rest of the patterns are comprised of lovely winter accessories: cashmere fingerless gloves, buffalo slipper socks, an Alaskan lace stole, fleece-lined mittens, a cabled and bobbled headband, and a tweed beret. All designs are pictured with the designer’s name and design details.
Several of the sweater patterns involve the use of steeks for armhole and neckline openings; in response, the features article “Beyond the Basics: Steeks – Cutting the Edge,” by Eunny Jang provides a very thorough treatment of the subject with general principles, tips on placement, working the steek, reinforcement and cutting steeks.
